Geomatics, International Master
The aim of the Master’s degree program is to provide students with extensive and detailed knowledge of the geomatics theory and methods on a high scientific level. Applicants with a first „geo“-related degree, who aim at a further qualification in regard to geoinformation processing in an international context, are welcome to apply to the 2-years course consisting of 3 taught semesters and 1 semester dedicated to the master’s thesis. The M.Sc. degree provides a thorough ground in particular for a self-employed occupation or a senior position, this also at the international level. It qualifies for applied research and development and therefore suits the requirements for a PhD.
Intensive training in all core GI-disciplines let our graduates become versatile experts in the fields of geographic information systems and remote sensing, spatial visualisation and geomedia techniques, software engineering, GPS-based monitoring and navigation as well as in regard to industrial measurement technology.
Technologies of the future support online capture and modeling of geodata as well as automatic measurement and analysis. Here, integrated sensor systems combined with modern communication technology has given rise to new and revolutionary applications and interdisciplinary approaches. Only when adhering to the principles of cartographic communication as well as employing the new means, interaction and dynamics, the potential of geoinformation can be fully exploited. Here, sophisticated systems are to be judged regarding their usability of visual media.
The master’s thesis is accomplished in close cooperation with the professors, their research and development activities. The practically oriented education involves small working groups. An on-going dialoq with the teachers as well as an intensive support guarantee a timely study completion and a successful graduation.
