April 6 to 7/June 1 to 2, 2018 | Workshop Fremdsein 4.0 - Designing a multimedia exhibition on the experience of "not feeling at home"

Have you ever not felt at home during your studies? Have you ever asked yourself why you went abroad for studying in the first place? Have you ever wondered how this experience might change you? The project “Fremdsein 4.0” at the Faculty of Information Management and Media invites you to exchange your experiences and ideas with other students, professors and representatives from non-governmental organizations. You will work in interdisciplinary teams to design a public multimedia exhibition, which will creatively present your input, discussions and take-aways from the project.

You are a student or exchange student, a staff member or (visiting) professor at HsKA and interested in gaining a deeper insight into why people choose to study or work abroad, why they would come to Germany to do so and how this effects them and their environment?

Do you like to share your experiences and work on the topic by

  • designing texts,
  • working with geo-data and maps,
  • App-programming or
  • taking pictures and videos?

Then come and join our open workshops:

Workshop I: April 6 and 7, 2018 from 09.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

in room AM115 at Hochschule Karlsruhe, Amalienstraße 81-87, 76133 Karlsruhe

Key Note by the Consul General of the Republic of South Africa, Mr G M Monyemangene followed by a discussion, sharing of ideas and collection of material for texting, app, photos and videos

Workshop II: June 1 and 2, 2018 from 09.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

in room AM115 at Hochschule Karlsruhe, Amalienstraße 81-87, 76133 Karlsruhe

Presentation of the teams’ work, joint preparation of the material for the exhibition, wrap-up of the project

The exhibition will take place in October 2018. Students departing from HsKA after the summer semester are nevertheless very welcome to join the discussions and working in teams!

Are you interested in the topic and want to join the project? Do you have any questions beforehand? Send us an email with your full name, your nationality/-ies, your field of study/research and if you intent to attend both workshops. We will then send you more details on the project and workshops in due time.

By the way, language is not an issue – if you speak English or German, no matter how well, you are welcome to join the workshops! We are looking forward to meeting you!

The project was honored as one of the prizewinners of the campusWELTbewerb in December 2017 and is funded by the Baden-Wuerttemberg Ministry for Environment and the Ministry for Science.
