Student Union AStA
The AStA (Allgemeiner Studierendenausschuss, corresponds roughly to a Student Union) represents the interests of the student body. It is formed by the four elected student members of the senate and their deputies, and of the heads and members of the workgroups. Participating in the AStA is voluntary so new helpers who want to contribute to their fellow students' welfare are always welcome to join the weekly AStA meetings to learn more. Information Center (IZ)
The Information Center (in German: "Informationszentrum", IZ) is a central service institution of Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences dealing with all aspects of provisioning and processing of information technology, digital communication and use of new media.

Academic Library FBH
The Academic Library (Fachbibliothek HsKA, FBH), which forms part of the library of the University of Karlsruhe KIT, provides HsKA students with technical literature. It is located in the upper floor of building A on-campus. The CampusCard serves as library card. It must be registered for use via http://www.bibliothek.kit.edu/cms/eroeffnung-bibliothekskonto.php and then activated at the library.

The Printing Shop of HsKA produces different print media for HsKA members, especially lecture notes of the faculties, for sale to their students. The Printing Shop is located in the basement of building R.
Our services for students include:
Printing out your documents. Please submit as a common data format (preferrably pdf, also word, excel, powerpoint or InDesign) by email or saved on a storage medium (USB stick, CD or DVD). The printout is processed quicker if separate pdf files are combined into one document (folder). For the order form and list of prices, please see the German-language webpages.
Students can have copies made of their thesis work, manuscripts, project reports, brochures, handbooks, transparencies, or posters up to DIN A3 size. Modern digital printers and copiers allow different bookbinding or punching techniques to put the copies together as a booklet. Grayscale or color print, single or duplex available. Spiral binding or softcover binding possible, including transparent cover and a coloured backsheet - different colours for choice.
Vouchers are required to use digital plotters in the poolrooms to print out large-sized digital plots with a standard width of 92 cm and length of 1.25 up to 10 meters. The vouchers can be purchased from Mr Nicolay at building R, room 102.

Foreign Language Institute (IFS)
Good language proficiency is a key factor for success. Therefore, HsKA founded the Foreign Language Institute (Institut für Fremdsprachen, IFS) as one of the central academic institutions, which offers free-of-charge language courses to students of all HsKA study programs.
Center for the Enhancement of Ethics in Science and Engineering (rtwe)
The Referat für Technik- und Wissenschaftsethik, a central service institution for all universities of applied sciences in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, is located at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences.
The rtwe offers workshops for students but also organizes and carries out courses on ethics for teaching staff as well as initiating projects with other institutions regarding sustainable development as defined in Rio-Agenda 21. The rtwe also counsels ethics officers at other universities and evaluates project applications.
