You've left school and its familiar schedules, you are not familiar with Germany and its ways. And now you need to work together with students with a different educational background. Starting your academic life and getting up to speed can be a daunting task for most new students, and some of them might feel that they need a bit more time to get started and familiarize themselves with their new surroundings.

In order to facilitate entry into the academic life and help towards a successful completion of studies, HsKA offers the following options for all bachelor freshers.

  • Project „Erfolgreich starten“ (Successful start) allows a multi-speed entry for students of the Business Information Systems, Civil Engineering, Sensorics, and Mechanical Engineering degree programs. You can take an entrance test and then decide yourself if you feel confident to start with the usual curriculum straight away, or to spread the workload over two semesters and have additional exercises and tutorials. • Special Brückenkurse (preparatory courses) in the subjects mathematics, physics, economics and programming help bachelor freshers to train and strengthen their school knowledge, to close possible gaps, and to familiarize themselves with new learning techniques. These courses usually take place before the start of lectures proper, their duration is about 1 week. There may be a small contribution to pay. More information in German...
  • And, of course, the HsKA Freshers' Welcome, which takes place in the first week at HsKA. There will be various introductions, tours and get-togethers, where you will get to know your fellow students, professors, and faculty, and find your bearings.
