CHE ranking of May 2012

(published as "Zeit-Studienführer 2012/13")

The CHE University Ranking is one of the most comprehensive and detailed university rankings in the German-speaking countries. Altogether over 300 universities, 2,500 faculties, 7,500 degree programs in 32 subject areas and the evaluations of more than 250,000 students were taken into account. The results will be presented on 2 May 2012 in the ZEIT-Studienführer (Study Guide) 2012/2013. Besides looking at the degree programs, teaching, equipment and research, the ranking also accounts for students' evaluations given on the study conditions at their university.

Each year, one third of the study subjects is reevaluated. This year's ranking included computer science, for which Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HsKA) obtained excellent results as to the criteria overall study situation, support provided to students, research funds per professor, and reputation of professors/academics: in four out of five categories, HsKA was in the lead group. This makes HsKA the best university of applied sciences in Germany.

Other results are taken from CHE surveys of previous years. HsKA degree programs were awarded top ratings. The Business Information System program took top position in the categories "relevance for practice"  and "reputation of professors/academics". In the overall results for the best university of applied sciences, it was placed number two, after 3 other universities sharing first place. The Civil Engineering program took top positions in four categories: the overall study situation, support provided to students, research funds per professor, and reputation of professors/academics. In this subject area, HsKA has been rated among the top 3 German universities of applied sciences.

In the area of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, HsKA was rated top for the categories "overall study situation" and "support provided to students". In Mechanical Engineering, HsKA was in the lead group for overall study situation, support provided to students, research funds per professor, and reputation of professors/academics, sharing first place for the best university of applied sciences in Germany with two other universities.
