Your multipurpose student ID
The Campus Card is used as:
- Student ID card
- Plastic money (student canteen and building A located on the ground floor)
Please use the ATM machine in the student canteen to charge your card for the first time. For the following times, you can activate the "Autoload" function based on direct debit.
- Library card
The Campus Card is used as a library card at the HsKA Academic Library. Before using this service you need to have the card activated either at the KIT Library, or contact the Information Desk at the HsKA Academic Library for the "Erstanmeldung" form.
- Ticket for local transport
The semester ticket for Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund KVV (free use of trams and buses from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m., on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays) is already included on the card. You can extend this service at KVV service center (Marktplatz).
Data stored on the Campus Card
The picture of the card holder, the student's name, the student's ID number, the designation of the student's degree program, the validity, the KVV ticket and the GID is printed on the card surface.
The Mifare-Chip carries the mifare serial number, GID, the university code, the PIN, the monetary value, and other data and content.
Mifare serial number: 4 Byte Integer
GID (global ID): 8-digit identification code
University code: "6760” identifying Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences
PIN: 5-digit confidential key
Monetary value (student canteen): 2 sectors with the amount, group, administrative data, purse number, and secret key
Administrative data: Code, here Student Services Karlsruhe
Purse number: 7-digit unique key

How to use the Campus Card
When handling your Campus Card, please use carefully and store it in a safe place. DO NOT
- bend or apply heavy pressure
- subject to heat, cold or radiation (e.g. microwave)
- dirty or use when dirty
By following these rules it will last throughout your entire period of study.
If your Campus Card is lost or broken
Please contact the Student Registry. Specify your student ID number and GID. In order to issue a replacement, there is a fee of 5 Euros. If the card is broken, please hand it in to receive new card. The card will be replaced free of charge unless the defect is due to improper use.
Please take with you the "Speicherung personenbezogener Daten im Chip Ihrer Campus-Card" sheet, which you receive when obtaining the first card. This will help to track the monetary value stored on the broken card. To restore the amount, contact the Studentenwerk Karlsruhe (Student Services), Adenauer-Ring 7 (Mr. Bittner or Mr. Popke). If the CampusCard has been lost it is not possible to restore the monetary credit to the card.
A replacement card can be purchased at the information desk in the Student Registry.
