Collaborative European Research Conference – joint international conference of Darmstadt and Karlsruhe Universities of Applied Sciences and Cork Institute of Technology
April 4, 2019
On March 29 – 30, Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences hosted the international and interdisciplinary Collaborative European Research Conference (CERC). It was the aim of the conference to give new as well as established researchers the opportunity to present their concepts and research results to an interdisciplinary audience. Conference participants enjoyed a varied schedule of more than 40 papers, best-practice examples, new research results and numerous opportunities for networking. The introductory keynote speech was given by Prof. Dr. Harald Baier of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences on the topic of “Mankind and technology – challenges and perspectives of cybersecurity“. This was followed by presentations, amongst others, of new approaches in research in the fields of computer science, business information systems, engineering, business studies, and IT security.
Doing justice to its claim of being an international conference, CERC 2019 attracted speakers from a wide range of countries, including Ireland, Japan, Thailand, China, Pakistan, Germany, Greece, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and the UK. There were also researchers present from Plymouth University (UK) and Cork Institute of Technology (Ireland), institutions that cooperate with Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences in the field of doctoral studies. At the end of the conference, the top presentations were given the “Best Session Award” and the “Best Presentation Award”. Offering a number of different excursions, the second conference day was dedicated to networking.
Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HsKA) was one of the three partner institutions jointly organizing the conference, with Dr. Ingo Stengel and Dr. Stefanie Regier, from HsKA’s Faculty of Computer Science and Business Information Systems, and Dr. Paul Walsh (Cork Institute of Technology) supporting the conference’s organization team led by Dr. Bernhard Humm, Dr. Udo Bleimann, and Dr. Robert Löw from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.
