Doctorate awarded to HsKA graduate from Palestine
For many international students the degree from Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences is a stepping stone to a successful career in academia. One of them is Dr. Ghadi Younis-Zakarneh from Palestine, who graduated from HsKA’s international Master’s program in Geomatics in 2006 and has now successfully concluded his doctoral studies at TU Darmstadt.
After obtaining his Master’s degree, DAAD scholarship holder Dr. Younis-Zakarneh became an academic assistant at HsKA’s Institute of Applied Research on the research project, Digital Finite Element Height Reference Surface. In this project he worked towards his Ph.D., which he defended successfully at TU Darmstadt in 2013. During his time in Karlsruhe he also taught geodesy courses on the M.Sc. program in Geomatics at HsKA’s Faculty of Information Management and Media.
Dr. Younis-Zakarneh was awarded his Ph.D. degree at the end of January 2014, upon publication of his dissertation on “Regional Gravity Field Modeling with Adjusted Spherical Cap Harmonics in an Integrated Approach”(see TU Darmstadt online library).
Since 2013, Dr. Younis-Zakarneh has been employed at Palestine Polytechnic University in Hebron, Palestine, where he had started his academic career many years ago. He is now working as a lecturer in surveying and geomatics engineering in the Civil & Architectural Engineering Department at the College of Engineering & Technology. In addition, he is active as a Licensed Land Surveyor in Palestine.
Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, especially the Institute of Applied Research and the Faculty of Information Management and Media, would like to congratulate Dr. Younis-Zakarneh on his Ph.D. degree. We wish him and his family all the best for the future and look forward to continuing our academic collaboration.
