New study on future technologies in fire and disaster protection

Prof. Dr. Hendrik Rust of Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences is working with the German Fire Protection Association gfpa (vfdb) on a study of future technologies in fire and disaster protection.

In the study "Future Technologies and Scenarios in Fire and Disaster Protection," Prof. Dr. Hendrik Rust of Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences and the German Fire Protection Association gfpa (vfdb) want to investigate how the latest technologies can support emergency forces.

The basis for the analysis is an online survey aimed at those responsible for fire departments, rescue services and civil protection.

Various future technologies in fire protection and disaster control have already been discussed and evaluated with numerous experts in various workshops.

Within the study, the results will be discussed and evaluated on the basis of the survey. In addition, the participants will be asked for their opinion on the feasibility of the technologies in fire and disaster protection. For example, the question is where emergency forces reach their limits and could use technical support, or in which of the technologies the greatest future potential for fire and disaster protection is seen.

"The study is very important for finding out how processes can be simplified and accelerated by new technologies in the event of a firefighting operation. We will publish these findings together with the gfpa and suggest corresponding research initiatives," says Prof. Rust.
