Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences is both a corporation under German public law and a state institution. The university is headed by the Senior Management, i.e. the President and three Vice-Presidents.

The University Council is responsible for the development of the university and suggests measures for profile-building and the increase of its performance and competitiveness. It supervises the management decisions of the Senior Management.

The Senate decides on all matters related to research, teaching, studies and further education, if these decisions are not required to be made by other central organs or faculties by law.

The Board of Trustees of Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences is responsible for supporting the university in its work and for fostering collaboration with the industry. The members of the Board of Trustees come from politics, business, science and research.

The Staff Council represents the interests of employees as opposed to university management.
