Phase-field models have become of interest in many fields of mathematics, engineering and materials science due to its manifold applicability. For that reason, the GAMM activity group „Phasenfeldmodellierung“ (phase-field modeling) was initiated five years ago to bring together researchers from various communities in an annual meeting.

After the successful workshops in Darmstadt (2014), Siegen (2015), Braunschweig (2016), Aachen (2017) and Dresden(2018), the 6th workshop on phase-field modeling will be held in Karlsruhe on February 7-8, 2019

Important Information

  • Conference fee: 90,- € (including coffee breaks, lunch and dinner)
  • Template for one-page abstract
  • Abstract submission is open
  • Abstract submission deadline: November 30, 2018
  • Payment deadline: December 31, 2018

Conference Topics

Current topics involve the phase-field modeling of various physical problems as well as a deeper understanding of phase-field approaches, their analysis, and the development of efficient numerical solution schemes.
The aim of the workshop is to gather young and established researchers and to enable discussions and an exchange of ideas regarding current fields of phase-field modeling, as well as to foster collaboration between different research groups.

Applications of phase-field models

The workshop will focus on physical, mathematical, and numerical issues of phase-field modeling in the fields of:

  • damage mechanics and crack propagation,
  • phase transformation and separation processes,
  • fluid mechanics,
  • biomechanical evolution processes, etc.
