The Foreign Language Institute (Institut für Fremdsprachen) offers digital intensive language courses to international students during the last two weeks of the semester break. Students who have already taken a course at IFS can register for the next higher level. New students take a placement test when they arrive; they are then put into suitable groups according to their German language skills. Those who have completed one course level as a pre-term intensive course can attend the next higher course level during the regular semester. Only students registered at the Hochschule Karlsruhe are eligible to attend these classes and will receive 4 ECTS credit points for successful completion of the course. Guests can not be admitted.
We offer the following courses:
DaF: Wissenschaft II (Level B2/C1)
First day of German intensive courses: Monday, 1 March 2021
Last day of German intensive courses: Thursday, 11 March 2021
Exam: Friday, 12 March 2021
Course times: Between 8am and 3pm. Your teacher will tell you the exact course times.
Courses will only take place if there are enough registrations. You will find out on 26.02.2021 on this website.
If you have not yet taken a course at the IFS, please take this online placement test (we recommend Chrome or Internet explorer) to find out your level.
You will receive an e-mail with the result: A1, A2, B1, B2 or C1.
Please pay attention to your exact points to know which IFS course to register for:
Test result A1 with 00 - 24 points → IFS Course: DaF A1.1
Test result A1 with 25 - 48 points → IFS Course: DaF A1.2
Test result A2 with 49 - 96 points → IFS Course: DaF A2.1
