Foreign Language Institute

The Institut für Fremdsprachen IFS (Foreign Language Institute) was specially founded to coordinate foreign language courses for students from all faculties at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences. After all, good foreign language skills are a key factor to success.

The proficiency levels of the language courses correspond to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF). Certificates are awarded in English, French, and Spanish. International students are particularly interested in the German language courses. Students can attend intensive or semester courses for which a certificate is awarded upon successful completion.

The special "Sprache und interkulturelle Praxis" program gives students the opportunity to acquire survival skills in various target languages and cultures.

Students attend the language courses as part of their degree programs or as electives. Each semester approximately 1,900 students attend one of the language courses offered.
